Job summary

Arup in Seattle is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer with hands-on experience in ground investigations, design and construction observation for large site development projects. You will plan field programs, interpret data, and develop 3D ground models to support foundations, earthworks and seismic analyses.

You will collaborate with civil, tunnelling and infrastructure teams, develop deliverables, and travel for field investigations. PE licensure and 2+ years of relevant experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s Degree or PhD preferred).
• PE license required or ability to obtain licensure in near term.
• Minimum 2 years of geotechnical engineering experience with infrastructure/urban projects.
• Experience with ground investigation, interpretation, and design.
• Familiarity with 3D ground modelling and geotechnical data management tools.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute subsurface investigation and lab testing programs.
• Interpret geotechnical data and perform soil-structure interaction analyses.
• Develop numerical models using PLAXIS, FLAC, LS-DYNA or similar tools.
• Support excavation support design and ground improvement strategies.
• Evaluate monitoring data and compare with predictions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on projects.
• Prepare geotechnical deliverables and reports.
• Travel for fieldwork and construction support.
