Geosyntec Consultants in Seattle, WA is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead our geoenvironmental and geotechnical practice. You will drive innovative projects across transportation, river restoration, landfills and seismic design, working with a team of engineers and scientists.

The role requires a decade of consulting experience, PE/PG licensure, and strong skills in slope stability, site characterization, and instrumentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering (required).
  • Advanced degree in the same (preferred).
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E, P.G.) (required).
  • At least 10 years directly relevant consulting experience (required).
  • Knowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering software (e.g., slope stability) (required).
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments and traveling to client facilities (required).
  • Fieldwork and overnight travel may be required.
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).

Responsibilities

  • Client management and business development.
  • Civil design, landfill design, and site layout.
  • Geotechnical analyses such as slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, deep foundations design, seismic design, seepage evaluations, and retaining wall design.
  • Geotechnical site characterization.
  • Development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems.
  • Project/task management and proposal preparation.
  • Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or project sites as needed.
