Job summary

Arup in Houston is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer with experience in large site development projects such as data centers. You will perform ground investigations, interpret results, and develop models to support foundations, earthworks, and excavation design.

The role involves collaboration with civil, structural, tunneling, and infrastructure teams, travel for field work, and producing geotechnical deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering; Master’s/PhD preferred.
• PE license required or ability to obtain licensure soon.
• Minimum 2 years of geotechnical engineering experience focused on infrastructure/urban development.
• Experience in geotechnical investigation planning, interpretation, analysis, design and construction support.
• Familiarity with 3D ground modelling and geotechnical data management tools.
• Experience with numerical modelling software such as PLAXIS 2D/3D, FLAC, LS-DYNA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute subsurface investigation and laboratory testing.
• Conduct geotechnical interpretation, ground movement assessments, and soil-structure interaction analyses for infrastructure and urban development projects.
• Develop numerical models using software such as PLAXIS 2D/3D, FLAC, LS-DYNA or similar analytical tools.
• Support design and assessment of excavation support systems, retaining walls, segmental lining systems, and ground improvement solutions.
• Evaluate instrumentation and monitoring data, including settlement, lateral movement, and excavation performance.
• Collaborate closely with civil, structural, tunnelling, and infrastructure teams in an integrated multidisciplinary environment.
• Support development of geotechnical deliverables including reports, technical memoranda, specifications, and design documentation.
• Travel for field investigations and construction support.
