Job description

  • Plan and supervise field exploration programs
  • Plan laboratory testing programs
  • Perform geotechnical engineering analysis and computer modeling
  • Develop geotechnical engineering recommendations
  • Prepare geotechnical engineering proposals and reports
  • Support other geotechnical department activities.

What you need to have :

  • At least 4-8 years of progressive geotechnical design experience including engineering analysis and experience with management of bridge and roadway projects (VDOT project experience strongly preferred).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external clients.
  • Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record required.
  • Self-starter with strong project and task management skills.
  • An internal leader with the ability to work in a team and meet schedule and budget requirements.
  • An external leader with the ability to proactively build relationships and seek out opportunities.
  • Ability to continuously sit, stand, and walk
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outside in frequent changes of temperatures
  • Ability to occasionally bend, squat, climb, push, and pull
  • Ability to work in environments containing dust and fumes
  • Ability to frequently drive to and from work sites, must have valid driver’s license with good-standing driving record
  • Ability to occasionally travel overnight
