Job Description:

Senior Project Engineer – Road & Highway Infrastructure - Virtual Pacific Northwest

Opportunity:

Our Parsons Seattle office is hiring a Senior Project Engineer with experience supporting road & highway DOT projects in Washington State, Oregon State, and the US Northwest Region. You will perform engineering tasks for highway, rail, and transit projects, including feasibility studies, preliminary engineering, final design, report writing, and development of construction contract documents. The candidate may lead tasks and be responsible for delivering assignments. Extensive experience with WSDOT or Oregon DOT projects is highly preferred. Willingness to travel as needed is expected.

Core Responsibilities include:
  1. Perform roadway engineering tasks such as geometric design, analyses, and project plan development.
  2. Utilize MicroStation and AutoCAD proficiently.
  3. Prepare engineering design plans, computations, reports, specifications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates.
  4. Assist the project manager in executing and delivering projects.
  5. Coordinate with internal teams and external clients/agencies.
  6. Lead and supervise lower-level engineers on assignments.
  7. Participate in project meetings, site visits, and field inspections.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  2. Minimum 12 years of roadway-related experience.
  3. PE registration is required.
  4. Experience with WSDOT or Oregon DOT projects and knowledge of DOT standards, policies, and manuals.
  5. Proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
  6. Strong communication skills.
  7. Ability to apply advanced engineering techniques and solve complex problems.
Skills:
  • Proven supervisory ability, excellent communication skills, and industry knowledge.
  • Knowledge of current technology and engineering software.
  • Understanding of project execution responsibilities and impact.
  • Proficiency in project and staff management principles.
  • Ability to mentor team members.
Minimum Clearance Required to Start:

None. This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team, dedicated to designing and delivering infrastructure that connects and protects communities worldwide.
