Job summary

ENGEO seeks a Staff Engineer to tackle a wide range of geotechnical projects in California and beyond. You’ll be mentored to grow in technical, project management, and business-development skills, with opportunities to travel internationally on global projects.

As an ENGEO team member, you’ll develop designs, perform analyses with PLAXIS/FLAC, prepare reports, and observe on-site construction. A Bachelor’s degree and EIT are required, with growth toward advanced degrees encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; MS/PhD preferred in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; GIS a plus.
• Willing to travel domestically and internationally for project assignments.

Responsibilities

• Develop geotechnical recommendations, plans, and tech specs for design and construction of private and public projects.
• Perform geotechnical analysis and design of shallow and deep foundation systems, ground improvement systems, earth-retaining structures, slopes, landslide mitigation solutions.
• Assess slope stability, ground settlement and deformation, and soil liquefaction using geotechnical software.
• Model static and dynamic behavior with finite-element and finite-difference methods (PLAXIS, FLAC, etc.).
• Perform site-specific seismic-hazard and ground-response analyses.
• Assist with field investigations including logging borings, sampling, and cone penetration testing.
• Develop laboratory testing plans, review results, and derive soil properties for analyses and design.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports and project documents.
• Observe construction of foundations, ground improvement, shoring, grading operations.
• Complete other field, analytical, and project admin tasks with guidance from peers/leaders.
• Travel to project sites including international locations for on-site support.
