Responsibilities include evaluating claims, drafting pleadings, taking depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials, while staying current on Georgia workers’ compensation law and maintaining meticulous records.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and active Georgia Bar membership.
• 5+ years of workers’ compensation defense, insurance defense, or civil litigation.
• Experience representing employers and carriers in contested claims.
• Ability to independently manage cases from intake through settlement or trial.
• Strong research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of Georgia workers’ compensation defense matters for employers and insurers.
• Evaluate claims, investigate facts, analyze medical records, and develop defense strategies.
• Provide counsel on liability, exposure, and litigation strategy.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement documents.
• Take and defend depositions of claimants, witnesses, and providers.
• Represent clients in mediations, hearings, and trials.
• Collaborate with claims professionals and opposing counsel to move cases toward resolution.
• Conduct legal research and stay current on Georgia workers’ comp law.
• Maintain accurate case records and meet deadlines.
