Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Safford, Arizona seeks a Geologist to perform logging of drill samples, map resources, and supervise drilling operations while integrating geological data for modeling. The role involves collaboration with metallurgists and a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

The position requires a geology degree (BSc or MSc) and relevant field experience, with travel and the ability to work on-site at a 24/7 operation in a sustainable mining environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or related scientific discipline with three years of geology experience, OR
• Master's degree in Geology with one year experience in geology or related scientific field.

Responsibilities

• Complete logging of drill samples.
• Complete resource block models and conduct geologic mapping.
• Integrate and interpret geological data into maps and cross sections.
• Work with geologists on computerized resource block models meeting modeling standards.
• Prepare and update drill hole databases and exploration records.
• Supervise drilling and drill sample preparation contractors.
• Work with Metallurgists to provide samples for processing testing and ore types.
• Perform geologic mapping of surface and underground areas.
• Assist in developing drilling programs and budgets for geological exploration.
• Provide guidance on applicable programs and regulations.
