Job summary

Leidos seeks a Data Scientist SME to guide a high‑performing Agile team in GEOINT data science, ML, and geospatial analytics. You’ll lead multi‑source geospatial modeling, advise on AI/ML adoption, and mentor junior staff across diverse stakeholders.

You will work across cloud platforms, GIS tooling, and large datasets to deliver actionable mission insights for national security programs. Active TS/SCI clearance preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, CS, Geospatial Science or related field with 12–15 years of experience, or Master’s with 10–13 years. Doctorate possible.
• 10+ years of professional data science experience.
• 5+ years of GEOINT/geospatial data analysis experience.
• Proven expertise in ML/AI models, esp. geospatial/remote sensing.
• Deep knowledge of geospatial tools and data formats.
• Proficiency in Python and DS libraries (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-learn, TF, PyTorch).
• Experience with big data tools (Spark, PySpark, Kafka, Hadoop, AWS/Azure).
• Geospatial data formats (GeoTIFF, Shapefiles, WMS, WFS) and spatial libs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical SME in data science and geospatial analytics for GEOINT.
• Lead design and development of ML models for multi-source geospatial data.
• Apply GEOINT knowledge to build data-driven decision support.
• Provide strategic recommendations on new tech, ML/AI, and cloud platforms.
• Mentor junior data scientists and analysts.
• Collaborate with GEOINT analysts, program managers, engineers, and stakeholders.
• Conduct applied research on innovative DS techniques and trends.
• Oversee deployment and operation of DS models.
• Maintain documentation for reproducibility and transfer.
