Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Data Scientist SME to lead advanced analytics on GEOINT data, including satellite imagery and multi-source geospatial datasets. You will guide model design, deploy scalable ML/AI solutions, and mentor junior team members in a fast-paced Agile environment.

You'll work with engineers, analysts, and mission stakeholders to translate complex requirements into actionable insights, shaping future capabilities in cloud-enabled data science.

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Geospatial Science or related field with 12-15 years of experience or Master’s with 10-13 years.
• 10+ years of professional experience in data science.
• 5+ years of GEOINT or geospatial data analysis experience.
• Proven expertise in developing and implementing ML/AI models for geospatial/remote sensing.
• Deep knowledge of geospatial analytics tools (GIS, ArcGIS) and spatial data formats.
• Proficiency in Python and data science libraries (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Experience with big data tools (Spark, PySpark, Kafka, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Expertise in geospatial data formats (GeoTIFF, Shapefiles) and spatial libraries (GeoPandas, Rasterio, GDAL).
• Advanced experience in developing and operationalizing AI/ML models for geospatial data.
• Strong data visualization and reporting skills (Tableau, PowerBI).
• Strong leadership and collaboration skills with senior government stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical SME in data science and geospatial analytics for GEOINT mission.
• Lead design and development of ML/AI models on large multi-source geospatial data sets.
• Apply GEOINT knowledge to improve data-driven decision-making and mission outcomes.
• Recommend use of new technologies, including AI and cloud platforms, to improve workflows.
• Mentor junior data scientists and analysts on best practices and mission relevance.
• Collaborate with GEOINT analysts, program managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define approaches.
• Conduct applied research on advanced data science techniques and emerging trends.
• Oversee deployment and operationalization of models ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Maintain thorough documentation for models and analysis to support reproducibility.
