Job summary

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) in Carson City, NV is seeking a Geodesist II to perform advanced geodetic analysis, data interpretation and reporting, supporting projects requiring precise earth measurements and geodetic modeling. You will prepare reports, CADD/GIS outputs, and contribute to geodetic control networks.

This on-site position requires proficiency with Trimble Business Center, Starnet, MicroStation, and ArcGIS Pro; strong communication skills; and collaboration with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in math, physics, civil engineering, land surveying or closely related field; one year of civil engineering or surveying experience, or equivalent.
• Geodesist I experience in Nevada service or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Compute horizontal coordinates of control networks using standard geodetic survey techniques (triangulation, trilateration, traversing).
• Compute vertical coordinates and adjust networks to meet standards; verify values and document results.
• Analyze existing control; acquire additional survey control for projects; verify data for mathematical correctness.
• Create and adjust coordinates across national datums and geodetic grids; ensure data continuity for engineering and surveying works.
• Maintain geodetic data in databases and distribute upon request to agencies and the public.
• Prepare survey control plan sheets for contract plans and verify plan completeness.
• Provide training and guidance on geodetic data usage and standards; review and recommend improvements.
