Job summary

Nevada Department of Transportation is seeking a Professional Engineering Specialist in the Geotechnical Section, Materials Division, in Carson City, NV. You will analyze and design geotechnical projects, prepare contract documents, and support construction while advising on design codes and policies.

The role requires a PE license and a master's degree in geotechnical or related civil engineering, with significant professional experience. It is an on-site position with no remote work option.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in civil engineering (geotechnical, structural, water resources, transportation or construction) and PE licensure.
• Bachelor's degree with 12 graduate units relevant to the assignment and PE licensure.
• Five years of professional experience as a licensed professional engineer.

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis and design of geotechnical projects per design specs and division policies.
• Develop contract documents and support during project construction.
• Provide recommendations on interpretation and application of geotechnical design codes and policies.
• Develop policy and procedure documents and improve standard specs and plans.
• Serve as technical expert on AASHTO, TRB, NCHRP and other research committees.
