Job summary

University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia seeks a Clinical Molecular Technologist to work in the Perelman School of Medicine lab. You will perform DNA isolation, mutation detection, real-time Q-PCR analysis, NGS library prep, and sequence analysis, supporting diagnostic and research workflows.

Experience with bioinformatics for NGS data is preferred; there is emphasis on QC, and collaboration in a multidisciplinary team. Contingent on funding; benefits include Penn's comprehensive programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science and 1 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out clinical procedures associated with genetic diagnosis of human diseases, including Sanger and NextGen sequencing, copy number determination, Methylation analysis by RT-PCR.
• Perform analysis of results of diagnostic analyses including variant annotation, RT-PCR and Illumina iSCAN data analysis.
• Bioinformatic analysis skills desirable.
• Routine DNA isolation, quantitation and Quality Control assays.
• Maintain equipment, arrange service calls and monitor service contacts; monitor supplies and expenses.
• Assist in experimental design & project development.
• Participate in lab meetings, journal club; attend relevant seminars and conferences.
• Other duties as assigned.
