Job summary

The University of Pennsylvania's Genetic Diagnostic Laboratory seeks a Senior Laboratory Technician/Specialist to perform routine and complex molecular biology procedures including DNA isolation, mutation detection in human disease genes, real-time Q-PCR, NGS library preparation, SNP arrays, sequence analysis, and other lab functions in a clinical genetic testing laboratory. You will work under Dr.

Arupa Ganguly, participate in proficiency testing, maintain equipment, and support manuscript

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field with 3–5 years' experience.
Strong bench skills including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, sequencing, and QPCR.
Experience with NGS setup and analysis.
Advanced MS Excel skills and coding preferred.
Familiarity with web-based databases.

Responsibilities

Performs routine and complex molecular biology procedures in a clinical genetic testing lab.
Follows pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical procedures and reporting requirements.
Participates in proficiency testing and ensures it is performed correctly.
Maintains and updates lab policies, procedures, and documents for regulatory review.
Flexibility to handle STAT requests and occasional weekend scheduling.
Supervision of junior colleagues and collaboration with the team.
Assist in preparation of research papers and participate in meetings and seminars.
