Job summary

UCSF Hospital is seeking a Hospital Assistant III – Genetic Counselor Assistant to support genetic counseling teams. You will interview patients, document personal and family medical history, manage records, and help coordinate clinic flow, including scheduling and coordinating visits with genetic counselors and physicians.

You will also assist with consent forms and sample collection for genetic testing, ensuring proper handling and documentation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in biological/health sciences or equivalent.
Strong communication and organizational skills; excellent customer service.
Knowledge of genetics and genetic concepts; ability to document family medical history.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data-entry into databases.
Ability to work independently and in a team; accurate record-keeping and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Interview patients and document personal and family medical history.
Request outside medical records and upload to Apex and departmental database.
Assist with clinic flow, including scheduling and coordinating visits with genetic counselors and physicians.
Review consent forms and assist with sending Docusign consent forms.
Collect samples for genetic testing and prepare specimens for transport to laboratories.
Enter data into the Cardiovascular Genetics database and support research projects.
