Albany Med Health System is seeking a Genetic Counselor Assistant to join the HBD - Pediatric Genetics team. The role supports genetic counselors and clinicians, coordinates patient care, and helps optimize clinic workflow within the Duker Children’s Hospital network.

Responsibilities include preparing patient histories, organizing records, coordinating genetic testing, obtaining pre-authorizations, and communicating with families and laboratories under supervision.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a life sciences field is required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in biology, chemistry, or related field.
• 1–3 years in an ambulatory medical setting preferred.

Responsabilités

• Prepare patient case materials and gather family and medical histories prior to clinic.
• Ensure medical records and lab reports are accessible for appointments.
• Coordinate genetic testing processes and obtain testing pre-authorizations.
• Update pedigrees and document results in the electronic medical record.
• Loster liaise with laboratories and health insurers regarding testing and authorizations.
• Maintain clinic workflow, triage phone calls, and support clinical staff as needed.
