Job summary

Capital Health System, Inc. seeks a licensed genetic counselor to obtain and analyze personal and family histories, interpret risk, and advocate for patients requiring genetic testing.

You will educate patients about test options, risks, and reproductive choices, and refer to specialists as needed. This role collaborates with an interdisciplinary team, documents care activities according to standards, participates in case conferences, and supports ongoing education for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in genetic counseling from an accredited program.
• Current NJ license upon hire and PA license within three months of hire.
• No prior experience required; three years of clinical genetics counseling experience preferred.
• AHA BLS certification.
• Strong teaching, communication, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and analyze personal and family medical histories.
• Interpret histories to determine appropriate genetic tests and referrals.
• Educate patients about risks, benefits, and alternatives of diagnostic and reproductive options.
• Discuss available testing options and help patients make informed decisions.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to maximize patient outcomes and document care activities per CH standards.
