Job summary

Meijer is seeking a Store Operations leader to plan, direct and supervise day-to-day store activities. You will mentor staff, drive sales, and ensure top-quality customer service while maintaining store standards and visual presentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root causes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members across SDITs, hourly staff and team leaders.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Mentor and coach team members for development and advancement.
• Implement strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales.
• Maintain store appearance, prime shopping hours, and product presentation.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote career paths and promotion decisions through succession planning.
• Discipline actions and discharge recommendations as needed.
• Manage P&L, achieve sales and control shrink for the department.
• Model fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in meetings and conversations.
• Train team members in all job aspects and ensure required training completion.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members.
• Promote a safe work environment and maintain reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
