Job summary

Meijer is seeking an exceptional General Merchandise Dept Manager for our Flat Rock, MI store. You will lead the team, drive onboarding, training and coaching, and manage staffing and leadership development.

The role focuses on engaging team members, improving operations, and delivering excellent customer service while maintaining Meijer standards and culture. Responsibilities include supervising area operations, driving budgeted results, safety and compliance, and implementing process

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
Progressive leadership experience preferred.
Strong communication and decision-making skills.
Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising.

Responsibilities

Engages with team members in onboarding, training and development, and coaching.
Identifies talent and supports staffing and leadership pipeline strategy.
Conducts candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth opportunities.
Oversees area operations and financial results, managing budget line items in the P&L.
Drives safety, compliance and store condition management; ensures training needs are met.
Leads daily work assignments and supports leadership in executing plans.
