Job description

General Manager – Boutique Wellness Studio

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to oversee sales and operations for a high‑end boutique wellness studio. The ideal candidate will quickly learn the business, maintain a high standard of excellence, drive studio sales revenue and support strong member retention. This role is highly sales‑focused, with approximately 80–90% of the position dedicated to sales and business development and 10–20% to staff management and studio operations.

The General Manager will drive growth by developing a strong team, ensuring consistent execution of the sales process, and generating new leads through community partnerships, grassroots outreach and pop‑up events.

Understanding the Unique Nature of This Role: This is not a traditional fitness facility management position. Rather than overseeing a large facility with thousands of members, the General Manager leads sales and business development in an exclusive boutique environment while ensuring a personalized, high‑touch client experience. The ideal candidate brings polish and professionalism when interacting with discerning clients accustomed to attentive service.

The position requires exceptional multitasking at the front desk, including welcoming and checking in prospective clients, delivering sales presentations, monitoring service quality, coaching staff, managing communications across multiple channels, and maintaining consistent client and community outreach. We are looking for a motivated self‑starter who understands lead generation and the sales funnel, thrives in a high‑touch environment, and is motivated by performance‑based rewards. The right candidate will build brand awareness and strong relationships with clients, local organizations and businesses using an approachable sales style that educates, informs and builds trust.

The Ideal Candidate Has 2+ years of sales experience, preferably in membership sales, high‑end sales or business development. Excels at building rapport, establishing trust and connecting with others through authenticity, empathy and genuine care. Is confident generating sales and training and coaching staff on sales best practices that drive results. Can work independently while collaborating effectively with ownership and other stakeholders. Anticipates business and team needs, takes initiative and strategically prioritizes tasks. Identifies opportunities for improvement and recommends thoughtful changes using sound judgment. Communicates professionally and personably in person, by phone, text and email. Demonstrates innovation, flexibility and comfort giving and receiving feedback. Thrives in a fast‑changing, entrepreneurial environment and enjoys helping build and improve a growing business. Creates a welcoming, supportive culture grounded in service, empathy, integrity, excellence and teamwork. Has a passion for health and wellness and for making a positive difference in clients’ lives. Is highly organized, proficient in data management, and able to prioritize work and meet deadlines. Is professional, punctual, reliable and detail‑oriented. Builds strong relationships with coworkers, clients, business partners and the local community. Is proficient with computers and business software, including Excel or Google Sheets and Google Docs, and can quickly learn new CRM and studio‑management systems. Can be on‑site quickly, at times on short notice, to help engage and convert prospective clients. Takes ownership, removes roadblocks and drives work to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive membership sales through consistent lead follow‑up and an approachable sales process that educates, informs and builds trust.
  • Generate new leads through community outreach, grassroots marketing, pop‑up events and local business partnerships.
  • Hire, train and coach the team, leading with care and empathy while maintaining clear expectations and accountability.
  • Manage daily studio operations, staff scheduling and appointment utilization to maximize productive schedules.
  • Build strong member relationships, support retention, resolve concerns and de‑escalate customer issues through attentive, personalized service.
  • Track sales and operational results and work with ownership to identify opportunities and improve performance.
  • Maintain a hands‑on presence at the front desk, personally contributing to sales while supporting the broader team.
