Job summary

Bella's Bagels is a community-centered bagel shop seeking a General Manager to lead daily operations, guest experience, and financial results with autonomy. You’ll coach staff, optimize scheduling, and build systems to run smoothly with less owner involvement.

In this leadership-first role, you’ll partner with owners to preserve Bella's culture while scaling to a second location, drive performance, and deliver consistent, high-quality service.

Qualifications

• Track record of developing shift leaders and building systems that run without constant owner involvement.
• Strong communication skills and professional presence.
• Comfort making decisions and operating with autonomy.
• Experience with scheduling, labor management, and basic financial accountability.
• Preference for candidates who have stayed with prior employers long-term.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain employees who demonstrate hospitality, reliability, accuracy, and pride in their work.
• Develop shift leaders who can independently direct service (front and back of house), resolve routine issues, and uphold standards.
• Establish clear responsibilities and performance expectations for every role.
• Provide consistent coaching, recognition, and constructive feedback; address performance issues promptly and fairly.
• Build structured training and cross-training programs with clear verification of competency.
• Lead consistent, efficient operations across in-shop service, online ordering, catering, and wholesale.
• Plan staffing, station assignments, and shift leadership around anticipated demand.
• During high-volume periods, maintain awareness of the full operation, identify bottlenecks, and adjust resources to support timely and accurate service.
• Step into any role where there is a significant operational gap during a shift.
• Reinforce opening, closing, cleaning, preparation, and shift-handoff procedures.
• Build schedules that balance service needs, employee capabilities, labor targets, and coverage.
• Identify recurring operational problems, address root causes, and verify that improvements hold.
• Maintain equipment and facility readiness, coordinating maintenance within established authority.
• Own labor, food cost, and operational targets in partnership with ownership.
• Use sales and labor data to make staffing and purchasing decisions.
• Support the transition of increased operational responsibility as the second location opens.
