Job summary

Potbelly is seeking a General Manager in Saint Paul, MN to lead daily operations, build a strong team, and drive sales while maintaining high standards for food safety and customer service.

The role reports to Potbelly Corporate and offers base pay between $60,000 and $65,000 per year with bonus potential. The GM role emphasizes team development, P&L responsibility, and community engagement in a fast-paced kitchen setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years as General Manager in a restaurant or retail environment with P&L responsibility preferred.
• Pass Food Safety Certification.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Friendly, customer-first mindset in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize while running a shift.

Responsibilities

• Train, coach, and develop shop team members to realize their potential.
• Assess staff abilities; create and implement development plans.
• Interview, select and hire great people representing Potbelly values.
• Develop and maintain a Good Vibes culture to foster attraction and retention.
• Effectively schedule Associates, Certified Trainers and Shift Leaders.
• Update communication board with critical shop information.
• Hold regular meetings with key shop staff.
• Delegate tasks to team to ensure high execution standards.
• Drive neighborhood shop marketing to maximize sales, including recruiting and marketing outreach
• Control cost of goods, variances and inventories within the shop.
• Create a local marketing plan; lead shop marketing to increase sales.
• Lead local community engagement and local business involvement.
• Must spend 80-90% of time on the shop floor (front of house).
• Comply with health and safety standards for food, cleanliness, and safety.
• Handle customer complaints/issues effectively.
• Other duties as assigned.
