Summary:
The General Maintenance Worker reports to the Manager of Facilities Planning and Operations Management. Under general supervision and in accordance with Brown University Health policies and procedures, performs routine repair and maintenance functions at Brown University Health outreach sites.

Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments, requiring travel between sites. Tasks may involve working at heights on scaffolding and ladders, exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, and various weather conditions. Tasks include walking on different surfaces, including slippery and uneven terrain. The environment is informal and team-oriented, with both routine and variable tasks at variable paces and pressures. Primary physical requirements include walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying moderate to heavy weights. Operation of hand and power tools, equipment, and vehicles is required. Effective verbal communication is necessary.
Safety precautions are followed to minimize hazards related to tools, chemicals, and climbing. A valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a good driving record are required.
