Hippo Insurance is seeking an Experienced General Liability Claims Adjuster II to manage a diverse commercial lines caseload from Austin or Dallas, with hybrid work. The role emphasizes liability investigation, coverage analysis, and effective settlement negotiation across multiple states.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of general liability claims experience, multi-state licenses, and a proven record in handling complex matters with empathy and compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of general liability/commercial lines claims adjusting experience.
• Active multi-state adjuster licenses or ability to obtain reciprocal/home state licenses quickly.
• Strong understanding of liability law, tort principles, and coverage interpretation across jurisdictions.
• Proven track record of managing complex and/or litigated claims to resolution.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
• Bilingual candidates are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate, and resolve general liability claims across multiple jurisdictions.
• Conduct thorough coverage analysis and apply relevant policy terms, conditions, and exclusions.
• Interview claimants, witnesses, and insureds; secure statements and gather supporting documentation.
• Partner with legal counsel, defense attorneys, and outside experts on litigated claims.
• Set and maintain appropriate case reserves in accordance with company guidelines and state regulations.
• Negotiate settlements directly with claimants, attorneys, and third-party representatives.
• Ensure compliance with state-specific unfair claims practices acts and licensing/regulatory requirements in all jurisdictions handled.
• Manage claim files from first notice of loss through resolution, including subrogation and recovery opportunities.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the claims management system.
• Stay current on evolving state regulations, case law, and industry trends affecting liability claims handling.
• Deliver exceptional customer service to claimants, insureds, and business partners throughout the life of each claim.
