Job summary

Old Dominion Abatement and Demolition (ODAD) provides specialized environmental and demolition services, including asbestos and lead abatement, mold remediation, ICRA services, and selective demolition. The General Laborer supports abatement, remediation, ICRA, and demolition projects with setup, loading, containment, and safety-focused fieldwork.

Responsibilities include assisting with demolition, environmental work, and material handling while following Foreman directions and project

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform general labor and construction-related tasks.
• Must follow verbal and written instructions and work under field supervision.
• Basic knowledge of construction safety practices or willingness to learn safety procedures.
• Ability to safely use and maintain hand tools, power tools, and equipment after proper training.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a field crew.
• Commitment to safety, quality, productivity, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labor and construction-related tasks as directed by Foreman or Superintendent.
• Assist with setup, maintenance, and cleanup of assigned work areas.
• Load, unload, move, and organize materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Assist with selective demolition activities, including removal of designated materials and debris.
• Assist with asbestos and lead abatement, mold remediation, ICRA containment, and other environmental work when trained.
• Install and maintain containments, barriers, floor protection, signage, and other work-area controls.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely as directed.
• Follow project plans, work instructions, procedures, and directions from supervision.
• Follow safety policies, OSHA requirements, environmental regulations, and project procedures.
• Properly use and care for PPE.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
• Sort, bag, contain, and dispose of debris per project requirements.
• Assist skilled crew with carpentry, drywall, containment, demolition, and other tasks.
• Report unsafe conditions or issues to Foreman/Superintendent promptly.
• Protect existing finishes and equipment from damage.
• Participate in daily crew briefings and safety training.
• Follow procedures for handling, transporting, and storing tools, equipment, and waste.
• Work with crew and other trades in the area as directed.
• Travel to job sites and work overtime, weekends, or nights as required.
