Job summary

Old Dominion Abatement and Demolition (ODAD) seeks a Foreman to provide hands-on leadership and daily supervision of an assigned crew performing abatement, remediation, ICRA, and selective demolition. You will ensure work is executed safely, according to plans, and coordinate materials and PPE.

You will train crew, monitor productivity, maintain records, and communicate progress to the Superintendent. Travel to job sites and overtime may be required; a valid driver's license and certifications

Qualifications

• Three or more years of abatement or related construction experience.
• Active asbestos abatement certification(s).
• Previous crew lead or supervisory experience.
• Working knowledge of construction safety practices and OSHA requirements.
• Ability to travel to assigned job sites and maintain reliable attendance.

Job Summary:

Old Dominion Abatement and Demolition (ODAD) provides specialized environmental and demolition services, including asbestos and lead abatement, mold remediation, Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) services, and selective demolition. Our highly trained professionals are committed to performing each project safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards.

The Foreman provides hands‑on leadership and daily supervision of an assigned crew performing abatement, remediation, ICRA, and selective demolition work. This position is responsible for safely executing the daily work plan, monitoring crew productivity and quality, and communicating project needs or concerns to the Superintendent.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing, and other duties will be assigned based on the position’s role within the business unit.

• Lead and supervise the daily activities of an assigned field crew.
• Communicate daily work assignments, priorities, production goals, and safety expectations to crew members.
• Ensure work is completed according to project plans, specifications, work plans, and company standards.
• Coordinate the daily materials, tools, equipment, and PPE needed by the assigned crew.
• Conduct daily crew briefings, pre-task planning, and safety discussions.
• Monitor crew productivity, workmanship, and progress throughout the workday.
• Ensure employees follow company safety policies, OSHA requirements, environmental regulations, and project‑specific procedures.
• Oversee assigned asbestos and lead abatement, mold remediation, ICRA containment, and selective demolition activities.
• Ensure containments, barriers, and other required work‑area controls are properly established and maintained when applicable.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
• Inspect completed work for quality and address deficiencies before work progresses.
• Train and provide hands‑on guidance to new and existing crew members.
• Monitor proper use and care of company tools, equipment, and materials.
• Accurately record crew time and attendance and complete required daily field documentation.
• Communicate daily progress, manpower needs, material shortages, safety concerns, delays, and field conditions to the Superintendent.
• Identify potential scope changes or deviations from project plans and notify the Superintendent before proceeding.
• Coordinate daily activities with other trades in the immediate work area as directed.
• Lead by example and perform field work alongside the crew when needed.
• Travel to assigned job sites and work overtime, weekends, nights, or off‑hour shifts when required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Three (3) or more years of experience in abatement, demolition, environmental remediation, ICRA, or related construction work.
• Active asbestos abatement certification(s).
• Previous crew lead or supervisory experience.
• Working knowledge of construction safety practices and OSHA requirements.
• Ability to safely operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and applicable construction equipment.
• Ability to read and understand project drawings, specifications, work plans, and written instructions.
• Ability to effectively lead, train, and communicate with field crew members.
• Strong organizational, time‑management, and problem‑solving skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, productivity, and teamwork.
• Ability to identify field issues and appropriately communicate or elevate concerns to the Superintendent.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
• Ability to travel to assigned job sites and maintain reliable and timely attendance.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, nights, or varying shifts based on project needs.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications applicable to assigned work.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Lead abatement or remediation experience.
• ICRA containment experience.
• Knowledge of Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM).
• Selective demolition experience.
• Experience working in healthcare or occupied environments.
• OSHA 30 certification.
• Carpentry and/or drywall experience.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.
• High school diploma, GED, or trade school education.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in active indoor and outdoor construction environments with exposure to dust, noise, debris, varying temperatures, and other job‑site conditions.
• Ability to walk, sit, stand, bend, kneel, stretch, stoop, crouch, squat, reach, and climb as required throughout the workday.
• Ability to safely climb and work from ladders, scaffolding, and elevated work areas when required.
• Ability to work in confined or restricted spaces when properly trained and authorized.
• Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection and protective clothing when applicable.
• Ability to safely work with specialized construction equipment, hand and power tools, and materials.
• Ability to travel to job sites, meetings, and other destinations as needed.
• Ability to see, speak, and hear effectively in person, by phone, and through online/video communication.
• Ability to use hands and fingers in a manner that allows for the operation of tools, equipment, keyboards, phones, and other devices.
• Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for periods of time as required for reporting, timekeeping, documentation, and other administrative responsibilities.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
