Job summary

Arizona State University in Tempe seeks a Legal Specialist 4 to provide high-level legal service for a broad range of matters in the Office of General Counsel. The role concentrates on complex transactional work, business formation, and public finance with ABOR and university policies in focus.

The Associate General Counsel team supports senior administration and interacts with state, local, and federal offices.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and six years of experience in the assigned area or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Experience in a high-volume environment and ability to draft/structure complex agreements for a large public research university.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with ability to advise administrative units.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal representation and counsel to ASU and ABOR on complex matters.
• Draft, negotiate, and review agreements for university offices and departments.
• Advise on regulatory compliance with federal/state laws and ABOR policies.
• Represent ASU in negotiations, administrative proceedings, and disputes.
• Research laws and regulations; analyze legislation for university impact.
• Collaborate with outside counsel on specialized matters as needed.
• Maintain relationships with regulatory, legislative, and legal resources.
