Job summary

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and six (6) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or training.
• Evidence of strong, effective communication skills and knowledge of legal issues affecting large public research universities.

Responsibilities

• Drafts, negotiates, and reviews agreements and other legal documents for the transactional group.
• Provides legal counsel and prepares legal opinions for administrative offices and academic units.
• Advises on regulatory compliance with federal and state laws, including ABOR policies and University policies.
• Represents ASU in negotiations, administrative proceedings, and legal disputes.
• Researches and analyzes a wide variety of laws and legislative history relevant to the University.
• Collaborates with outside counsel on specialized matters as needed.
• Maintains relationships with regulatory and legal resources and participates in meetings and conferences.
