Job summary

Nelnet seeks a Data Pipeline Engineer to design, build, and maintain data pipelines for GenAI use on Google Cloud. You will ingest, transform, and serve client data with governance controls, including FERPA considerations.

You will partner with the GCP/Gemini Enterprise Engineer to ensure data structure, access, and readiness for AI use cases, while controlling cost and performance. A hybrid remote work model is supported in the US.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building data pipelines and ELT/ETL for analytics or GenAI on a major cloud data platform.
• Direct experience with BigQuery and Dataflow (or Cloud Composer) preferred.
• Experience with data governance and classification tooling to manage sensitive data.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines using BigQuery and Dataflow for GenAI use cases.
• Ingest, transform, and serve client data for analytics and AI-ready access.
• Monitor reliability, performance, and cost; optimize pipeline operations.
• Define data access controls and governance for education and public-sector data.
• Collaborate with GCP/Gemini Enterprise Engineer and AgentOps counterparts.
