Job summary

Nelnet is seeking a Remote GenAI Platform Engineer to own the technical build and deployment of Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform solutions for higher education and SLED clients. You will translate backlog items into production-ready agents, RAG pipelines, and model integrations, collaborating with Data and AgentOps engineers to ensure quality and delivery.

The role requires hands-on GenAI experience, cloud familiarity (Google Cloud stack), and a focus on secure, FERPA-compliant implementations.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience building and deploying GenAI/agentic AI solutions in production.
Experience with Gemini Enterprise Platform or Vertex AI preferred.
Familiarity with A2A protocol and multi-agent orchestration patterns.
Working knowledge of cloud data, compute, and access-control services supporting AI workloads (IAM, BigQuery/Snowflake).
Experience building evaluation harnesses and regression tests for LLM/agent outputs.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and deploy agentic assistants and GenAI applications on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, translating backlog items into working solutions.
Implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines and grounding using platform capabilities.
Integrate Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol and multi-agent orchestration where needed.
Build live API and tool-calling integrations so agentic solutions can take real-time actions in client systems.
Maintain technical documentation and reusable playbooks across engagements.
Deliver technical estimates and ensure quality before releases.
