Job summary

Sumitomo Group in Texas seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to apply mechanical design skills to industrial gearboxes, focusing on reverse engineering competitor units and delivering complete work scopes to the production and scheduling teams. Qualifications

• BS in mechanical engineering or design discipline or equivalent work experience
• Two (2) years AutoCAD experience; Autodesk Inventor preferred
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and manufacturing layouts

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering principles for gearbox design and analysis
• Learn LUFTEX design and analysis methodologies using provided guides and software
• Analyze customer gearbox systems including lubrication and internal/external components
• Create manufacturing drawings and define work scope for production scheduling
• Work with customers on-site to discuss solutions and improvements
• Travel within SMA’s footprint to provide technical support as needed
