Job summary

Sumitomo Drive Technologies USA seeks a Gearbox Engineering Manager to lead the GB Application and Design Engineering teams, Backoffice, Project Management, and Documentation. You will ensure alignment with sales, operations, and customers while driving performance and continuous improvement.

You will manage budgets, resources, and strategic initiatives to deliver engineering excellence, profitability, and customer satisfaction across the gearboxes business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) with at least eight years in the rotating equipment industry.
• Previous managerial experience required.
• Strong working knowledge of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
• Lean Six Sigma CI Best Practices Green Belt preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop GB Application Engineering, GB Design Engineering, Backoffice Engineering, Project Management, and Technical Documentation to meet company objectives and customer requirements.
• Provide leadership and support to supervisors and team leads while fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
• Monitor departmental performance metrics and ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Coordinate across engineering functions to support customer orders, projects, and business initiatives.
• Collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Product Management, and Sales to achieve operational excellence.
• Oversee capacity planning, resource allocation, and workload prioritization to fulfill commitments.
• Drive process improvements focused on efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure compliance with ISO procedures, documentation practices, and configuration controls.
