Job summary

Rivian is seeking an experienced gear designer to develop and validate plastic gears, gearboxes, and assemblies for angle sensors and other mechatronic applications.

You will perform tolerance analyses, tooth form optimization, and 3D modeling, collaborating with electrical engineers to integrate gear trains with sensing components. Proficiency in KISSsoft, Catia, and PLM systems is expected.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing plastic (injection-molded) gears with correct tooth form compensation and backlash management.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and validate plastic gears and gear trains for angle sensors and other mechatronic applications.
• Perform gearbox design calculations, tolerance analysis, and tooth form optimization using KISSsoft.
• Specify and verify gear quality and tolerance requirements per ISO 1328.
• Create detailed 3D models of gears, gearboxes, and shafts.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate gear trains with sensors.
