Job summary

M&T Bank in Wilmington, DE is seeking an experienced professional to manage complex deal closings in Global Capital Markets. The role is hybrid (4 days in office) with openness to Baltimore, Chicago, Wilmington, DE and Minneapolis, and involves negotiating agreements and coordinating multi‑group closings.

The candidate will serve as client-facing deal manager, meet clients, support sales, and coordinate deal structures, while ensuring risk and regulatory compliance and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ related experience.
• MBA or JD preferred for advanced roles.
• Minimum Of 5 Years’ Related Experience in GCM deal closings, corporate trust, or related areas.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and close transactions in which Wilmington Trust serves in a Trustee capacity and other related roles.
• Serve as client-facing centralized deal manager for transactions and coordinate deal structures.
• Meet with clients and attend conferences as deemed appropriate.
• Assist Sales with business development initiatives and coordinate deal structures by asset type.
• Serve as internal liaison for all support groups around deal closings.
• Address escalated client issues and ensure they are prioritized and resolved, escalating to Transaction Leaders when needed.
• Understand and adhere to risk and regulatory standards, identifying issues needing escalation.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and aligns with the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain internal control standards and address audit points with regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Location: Hybrid 4 days in office, open to Baltimore, Chicago, Wilmington, DE and Minneapolis.

Overview

Negotiates transaction deal documents and facilitates deal closings in a timely manner for smaller and mid-tier Global Capital Markets (GCM) clients.

Primary Responsibilities

• Negotiate and close transactions in which Wilmington Trust serves in a Trustee capacity as well as other complementary roles and products.
• Serve as client-facing centralized deal manager for transactions for internal operational and support groups.
• Meet with clients and attend some conferences as deemed appropriate.
• Assist Sales with business development initiatives and coordinate deal structures depending on asset type.
• Serve as internal liaison for all support groups surrounding deal closings.
• Address escalated client issues and ensure they are prioritized appropriately and resolved. May elevate client issues to Transaction Leaders based on client size and possible risk.
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $106,700.00 - $177,900.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
