Job summary

M&T Bank's Wilmington Trust division seeks a deal-close specialist to negotiate and close Global Capital Markets transactions in trustee roles, coordinating with internal teams and clients.

This hybrid position requires 4 days in office with potential locations including Baltimore, Chicago, Wilmington (DE) and Minneapolis. A Bachelor’s degree is required, with MBA/JD preferred and 5+ years of GCM closing experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ related experience, or a combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience with related experience.
• MBA or JD degree preferred for advanced qualifications.
• GCM deal closing experience is highly desirable.
• Experience in Corporate Trust is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret legal documents.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and close transactions where Wilmington Trust serves as Trustee.
• Serve as client-facing deal manager for transactions and coordinate with internal teams.
• Meet with clients and attend selected conferences as appropriate.
• Assist Sales with business development and coordinate deal structures.
• Serve as internal liaison for all support groups around deal closings.
• Address escalated client issues and escalate as needed based on risk.
• Adhere to risk and regulatory standards and maintain internal controls.
• Promote an environment that reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Ensure timely completion of internal/external audit points as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Location: Hybrid 4 days in office, open to Baltimore, Chicago, Wilmington, DE and Minneapolis.

Overview

Negotiates transaction deal documents and facilitates deal closings in a timely manner for smaller and mid-tier Global Capital Markets (GCM) clients.

Primary Responsibilities

• Negotiate and close transactions in which Wilmington Trust serves in a Trustee capacity as well as other complementary roles and products.
• Serve as client-facing centralized deal manager for transactions for internal operational and support groups.
• Meet with clients and attend some conferences as deemed appropriate.
• Assist Sales with business development initiatives and coordinate deal structures depending on asset type.
• Serve as internal liaison for all support groups surrounding deal closings.
• Address escalated client issues and ensure they are prioritized appropriately and resolved. May elevate client issues to Transaction Leaders based on client size and possible risk.
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education And Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ related experience

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $106,700.00 - $177,900.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
