Job summary

IRMC Physician Group in Indiana, PA is seeking a friendly Surgery Scheduler to join the Gastroenterology team. The role coordinates pre-op and scheduling activities, verifies patient information, and ensures accurate surgical lists are communicated to providers and billing.

You will interact with patients, clinics, and hospital staff, handle insurance verification, collect copays, and travel to other IPG offices as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: high school diploma; medical secretarial or related preferred.
• Basic understanding of medical terms and abbreviations.
• Experience with office software and scheduling systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-registration and coordinate with office, OR, preregistration department and surgery centers.
• Provide patient service by obtaining/verifying demographic and insurance information.
• Verify insurance eligibility and discuss patient financial responsibilities.
• Inform patients about appointment/procedure instructions and answer questions.
• Discuss payment options and refer to Financial Counselors as needed.
• Maintain accurate patient registration and scheduling lists; ensure timely communication.

Education
