Job summary

Banner Health seeks a Medical Assistant for the Peoria Gastroenterology clinic. You will support clinicians with exams, take vitals, perform routine procedures, manage referrals, and maintain accurate medical records. The role emphasizes patient-focused care, teamwork, and efficient clinic flow.

Qualifications

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Completion of an approved medical assistant training program.
Active Medical Assistant Certification required.
BLS certification required.
Strong computer skills and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple changing priorities.

Responsibilities

Prepare patient for exam and document vital signs and chief complaint.
Assist providers with exams and minor in-office procedures.
Coordinate pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling.
Provide clerical support and ensure complete and accurate medical records for billing.
Maintain clean, functional exam rooms and sterilize equipment as per guidelines.
Order supplies and manage medications as directed.
Develop effective communication with patients, families, and staff.
