Job summary

Banner Health seeks a Medical Assistant for the Gastroenterology clinic in Scottsdale, AZ. This role supports clinicians, handles patient check-in/out, and assists with exams and procedures in a fast-paced multidisciplinary setting.

You will contribute to high-quality patient care, participate in referrals and scheduling, and play a vital role in coordinating patient care across services as Banner opens a new state-of-the-art clinic in early 2027.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.
• Active Medical Assistant certification is required (RMA/CMA/CCMA/NCMA) with current membership proof where applicable.
• Requires strong computer skills and ability to manage multiple changing priorities; excellent interpersonal communication is essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for exams by taking and recording vital signs and chief complaints.
• Assist providers with exams and minor procedures and document procedures performed.
• Coordinate pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling.
• Provide clerical support including medical records, labs, and billing-related information.
• Maintain clean and disinfected exam rooms and equipment and ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
• Order supplies and manage medication-related tasks and recalls as directed.
• Develop effective communication with patients and external partners; support onboarding and orientation activities; participate in team-based care.
