Job summary

Kinder Morgan, Inc. is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to support interstate natural gas pipeline projects. This role requires collaboration across departments and with external partners, and involves designing routes, materials, and wall thickness for pressure ratings.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in the gas industry, familiarity with relevant codes, and strong skills in drawings interpretation, analysis, and technical reporting. The position is on-site at our Houston area operations.

Qualifications

BS in Engineering required.
Minimum 5 years of gas industry experience preferred.
Knowledge of industry codes and standards (49CFR Part 192, etc.).
Ability to read and interpret civil/structural drawings.
Ability to read alignment sheets, geotechnical reports, and surveys.
Ability to analyze soil and slope stability and erosion control.
Ability to design/manage complex crossings for roads, rail, water.
Ability to design supports, anchors, bridges, and foundations.
Ability to develop lift plans and coordinate reports.

Responsibilities

Design pipeline routes and select materials, including wall thickness for pressure ratings.
Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and engineering firms.
Prepare and coordinate engineering reports, calculations, and studies.
Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work.
Ensure code compliance and safety while maintaining efficiency.
