Job summary

Xcel Energy is offering an Engineering Internship in Denver focused on building and verifying gas hydraulic models across our natural gas service territory. You will work under engineers to support tools, programs, and data used in emergency response, operations, and planning, gaining practical field and office experience.

The role emphasizes developing skills in gas system modeling, data management, and automation, with mentorship and hybrid work policy.

Qualifications

• Currently a student (Junior or higher) as of Fall 2027.
• Enrolled in ABET-accredited college/university pursuing Engineering or Physics.
• Able to work full-time during summer (up to 40 hrs/week) or part-time during school year (up to 20 hrs/week).

Responsibilities

• Performs gas model development, model verification, and analysis using Synergi Gas or similar software.
• Develops documentation and may assist with modeling procedures and training materials.
• Develops modeling skills, data management, and investigates model discrepancies.
• Explores or implements new processes and automation tools to improve model accuracy and usability.
