Job summary

Xcel Energy in Lakewood, Colorado is offering a summer internship to gain hands-on experience in Gas Distribution Operations. You will work with field and office teams to analyze data, improve safety and efficiency, and support projects aligned with company objectives.

The role exposes you to gas distribution systems, maintenance programs, and emergency response while enabling growth through dashboards and reports for leadership and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Must be a current student enrolled in an accredited college or university.
• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in a related field (Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Data Analytics).
• Able to work full-time during summer (up to 40 hours/week) or part-time during school year (up to 20 hours/week).

Responsibilities

• Analyze operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Support gas distribution projects related to safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
• Assist with tracking construction, maintenance, and emergency response activities.
• Participate in field visits to observe operations and practices.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Dispatch, and Safety on process improvements.
• Develop reports, dashboards, and presentations for leadership.
• Review SOPs and recommend efficiencies.
• Support asset management and data quality efforts.
