Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking Engineering Interns to support the Integrated Model Innovation - Gas Modeling team. You will assist in building and verifying gas hydraulic models using Synergi Gas, while gaining practical experience in utility planning, data management, and reporting.

The role emphasizes hands-on modeling work, documentation, and learning through mentoring. Ideal candidates are ABET-credited engineering or physics students (Fall 2027), able to work full-time in summer and part-time

Qualifications

• Current student enrolled in ABET accredited college or university, pursuing Engineering and/or Physics
• Eligible to work full-time during summer (up to 40 hours/week) or part-time during school year (up to 20 hours/week)
• Hybrid work location with in-person commuting to designated site

Responsibilities

• Performs gas model development, model verification, and analysis using Synergi Gas or similar software
• Develops documentation and may assist with modeling procedures and training materials
• Develops technical skillsets in gas system modeling, data management, and investigating model discrepancies
• Explores or implements new processes and automation tools to improve model accuracy and traceability
