Job summary

Xcel Energy is offering a paid internship with our Gas Utility Engineering team in Minnesota. The program provides hands-on work experience, mentoring, and exposure to senior leadership while contributing to department objectives.

You will assist with project management, pipeline engineering, data cleanup, and code verification, while supporting the Transmission Control Center and gaining exposure to power system operations.

Qualifications

• Current student enrolled in ABET accredited program pursuing Engineering, Gas Project Management.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) or part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week).
• Must commute to the designated work location per hybrid policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project management, pipeline engineering, data cleanup, federal code verification, and documentation.
• Support Transmission Control Center with Engineering staff.
• Serve as entry-level engineering analyst supporting the tools, programs, and database used to perform operational tasks such as outage coordination and power flow studies.
• Assist with operator training and related tasks.
