Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking candidates for a paid internship in the Gas Utility within one of our Engineering departments. The program offers practical work experience, exposure to senior leadership, and collaboration with key internal stakeholders, with a May 24, 2027 start date.

You will support project management, pipeline engineering, data cleanup, and outage coordination, working with Engineering staff to support the Transmission Control Center.

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher.
• Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Engineering, Gas Project Management.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Responsibilities

• Project activities and responsibilities could include assisting with project management, pipeline engineering, data cleanup, federal code verification, documentation preparation, and other activities as required.
• Work with the Engineering staff to support the Transmission Control Center.
• Work as an entry level engineering analyst doing tasks that support the tools, programs, and database s used to perform various operational tasks such as outage coordination, power flow studies, power system monitoring, and assist with operator training.
