Job summary

Eversource Energy in Connecticut seeks a Gas Meter Service Mechanic to install, inspect, and repair residential and commercial gas metering equipment. You will reconnect services, service gas appliances, and respond to gas odor and high-bill concerns.

This shift position requires appropriate gas-meter licenses, CAST testing for external candidates, and the ability to perform overtime, climb ladders, and lift heavy objects while ensuring safety and exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• External candidates MUST complete company-approved EEI CAST aptitude testing (CAST Test).
• CAST Test practice information available at the EEI link provided in the posting.
• Licenses are preferred (S1, S2, S3, S4; S5, S6, S7, S8; P1, P2).
• Acceptable: D1, D2. Minimally acceptable: G1, G2.
• In lieu of a license, internal employees with 10 years of fully qualified gas meter service experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Reconnect and disconnect gas services.
• Service customer owned gas appliances.
• Investigate gas odor complaints and provide repair.
• Install, remove, and change various sizes and types of gas meters.
• Investigate high bill complaints.
• Remove, replace, and install ERT devices.
• Remove, repair, replace, and install various sizes and types of piping.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with customer complaints at all levels.
• Responsible for on-call emergency responses.
