Job summary

Eversource Energy is hiring for a gas service helper in Connecticut. Responsibilities include removing, repairing, replacing and installing gas piping, repairing odor issues, and operating heavy equipment. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

External candidates must complete the CAST test. This position is union-represented and includes on-call emergency duties; a DOT medical card may be required depending on assignments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
• EXTERNAL candidates ONLY must successfully complete company approved EEI testing (CAST aptitude test).
• A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Two years of related experience is preferred for the helper level.

Responsibilities

• Remove, repair, replace and install various sizes and types of gas piping.
• Investigate and repair gas odor complaints.
• Operate pavements breaking and road cutting equipment.
• Operate a backhoe and dump truck.
• Perform walking leak surveys.
• Perform underground utility mark outs.
• Drilling and tapping various sizes and types of gas mains.
