Job summary

Burns & McDonnell’s Power global practice is seeking a well-rounded Project Manager to lead gas-fired power generation and related heavy industrial projects. You will manage planning, execution, safety, quality, schedule, budget, and client satisfaction across diverse contracting models.

The role involves leadership of multidisciplinary teams, client engagement, and travel to project sites and facilities. Strong communication, problem solving, and a background in engineering or construction

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in engineering, construction management, or related field with 7 years of experience.
  • Experience on construction sites or program management in relevant industries.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong problem solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the overall planning and execution of Owner’s Engineer, detailed design, and/or EPC projects.
  • Serve as primary interface between client and project team; align on objectives, priorities, risks, decisions, and performance.
  • Lead proposal development, including scope, schedule, and staffing; participate in contract development and negotiations.
  • Develop and implement the project execution plan.
  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering and design efforts; coordinate with Project Engineer, Engineering Manager, and discipline leads.
  • Establish and manage project schedule, budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
  • Identify changes in scope or conditions; manage change orders with client and subcontractors.
  • Manage and verify quality program and reviews for deliverables.
  • Coordinate with clients, permitting authorities, equipment suppliers, subcontractors, and construction teams.
  • Lead procurement/subcontracting plans: bidder lists, RFPs, bid evaluations, negotiations, awards.
  • Manage major suppliers and resolve technical, commercial, quality, and schedule issues.
  • Direct field engineering services and RFIs; address field conditions and design changes.
  • Integrate engineering, procurement, construction, turnover, commissioning, and testing activities.
  • Lead internal/client project meetings and status reports on safety, scope, schedule, budget, and decisions.
  • Foster proactive communication, accountability, collaboration, and client success.
  • Support development of client relationships and future project opportunities.
