Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Project Manager for gas-fired power and heavy industrial projects. You will oversee planning and execution across engineering, procurement, construction, and turnover, coordinating with clients and internal teams to meet safety, schedule, budget, and quality goals.

Travel to client offices and job sites is required. The role emphasizes leadership of complex engineering teams, strong client engagement, and opportunity development within a global AEC firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; 7 years of applicable experience.
• Experience on construction project sites or program management in relevant industries preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with analytical problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work overtime on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Manage overall planning and execution of Owner’s Engineer, detailed design, and EPC projects.
• Interface between client and project team; align objectives, priorities, risks, decisions and performance.
• Lead proposal development; prepare project scope, schedule, staffing, and negotiate contracts.
• Develop and implement the project execution plan.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering and design to meet project requirements.
• Establish and manage schedule, budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
• Identify changes in scope or conditions and manage change orders.
• Ensure quality programs and conduct independent quality reviews of deliverables.
• Coordinate with clients, permitting authorities, suppliers, subcontractors, and construction teams.
• Lead procurement plans, bidder lists, RFPs, bid evaluations, award recommendations, and contract administration.
• Manage major equipment suppliers; resolve technical, commercial, quality, and schedule issues.
• Direct field engineering services and resolve RFIs, field conditions, design changes, and nonconformances.
• Integrate engineering, procurement, construction, turnover, commissioning, startup, and testing activities.
• Lead project meetings and prepare status reports on safety, quality, scope, schedule, budget, and decisions.
• Foster proactive communication, accountability, collaboration, and client-focused outcomes.
• Support client relationships and identify future opportunities; assist with business development.
