Job summary

NiSource is hiring an entry-level Operations Field/Service Technician in Coshocton, OH. You will install, repair and replace gas distribution facilities and operate light earth-moving equipment. Progression to Field/Service Technician 2 occurs after two years of training and OQ completion.

You must live within 25 miles of the reporting location and be capable of working in all weather with overtime as needed. Safety certifications, DOT AMPP readiness, and good teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use various hand tools for repair of field facilities.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations and document results clearly.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Detail-oriented with ability to follow through with little supervision.
• Skills to read/interprete gauges and dials.
• Able to pass safety certifications including self-contained breathing apparatus use.
• Subject to DOT AMPP regulations and emergency response duties.
• Pass pre-employment assessments and background checks.
• Able to work in all weather conditions and during overtime or irregular hours.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair and replace distribution facilities such as main lines and services.
• Operate light earth-moving equipment and maintain tools and equipment.
• Install meters, settings, regulators, and inspect service lines for leaks.
• Test gas appliances and locate leaks with instruments.
• Advise plumbers and contractors on service installations.
• Turn gas on/off for customers and collect delinquent bills as needed.
