Job summary

Eversource Energy in the Northeast seeks a Mechanical Engineer to plan, design, and manage gas distribution and pressure regulating projects, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local codes. The role covers design, site layouts, procurement support, and coordination with internal and external teams.

You will travel between MA, CT, and NH, participate in bid preparation, cost estimation, and safety programs, and may mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• 5–8 years of relevant engineering experience; gas experience is a plus.
• Willingness to travel between MA/CT/NH and participate in emergency restoration.

Responsibilities

• Design systems or installations to meet objectives and comply with codes.
• Perform site layouts and prepare documents for procurement, permitting and construction.
• Specify and procure materials and coordinate labor.
• Prepare projects for bid, schedule, and conduct bid meetings.
• Evaluate bids and assist with capital project budgets and cost analyses.
• Develop and maintain field procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Assist in overseeing construction activities to ensure specs and codes.
• Coordinate construction with customers, contractors, and authorities.
